Welcome to NHHS and Welcome Week 2023!
Dear new student – welcome to the best Welcome Week in Norway!
This week marks the start of your time at NHH, and we hope you want to join! Welcome Week will consist of a number of events that are arranged for you to get to know your fellow students, the city, the school, the student association and all the fun we have to offer further in the course of study. Every day is filled with fun activities, and you will have mentors who guide you throughout the week. The week is created to give you a good start to your study time. Maybe you get to know your new best friend or your future spouse; from experience, nothing can be ruled out.
During the week you have the opportunity to participate in a number of different events. We arrange pub-to-pub, parties, bus guiding and much more. Welcome Week is guaranteed to be an eventful and fun week, and there is something for everyone, both with and without alcohol.
We look forward to meeting you!

Mentor groups
All new students who join Welcome Week are assigned a mentor group. The group will consist of mentees and dedicated mentors. The mentors’ task is to make sure that you feel comfortable, and they will go in easily recognizable white t-shirts throughout the week. They will also arrange a mentor pre-game before the events, give you a tour of the school and provide a lot of useful information about student life at NHH. Use your mentors actively – they are sitting on a goldmine of knowledge about NHH and NHHS.

Zero tolerance
The environment at NHH and in NHHS shall be experienced as safe for all the school’s students. That is why we have zero tolerance for drugs and harassment. In the event of violations, the consequences will be exclusion from NHHS and a police report. If you need help or experience a breach of this, you can click on NHH’s website for notification routines. Feel free to also contact president of the Executive Board at leder@nhhs.no or call +47 477 12 284.
Here are the plans for the different groups in the Welcome Week. Below are a few points that will be essential to note:
- We reserve the right to make changes in schedules, so we encourage you to follow “nhhstudentforening” on Instagram and join the Facebook group “students starting at NHH autumn 2023” to stay updated on any changes.
- Your mentors will have control over the meeting times for various events like baptism, UFF, and activity day, and the details will also be published in the Facebook group “students starting at NHH autumn 2023”
- The ticket to Hallaien (a major party event) is included in the FKU package you purchase through Orbi. You can find more information about Hallaien here: https://www.utdanningibergen.no/studenter/hallaien
- Open events are accessible to anyone who wants to participate, but you need to buy a separate ticket through Orbi to attend these events. In other words, the open activities are NOT included in the FKU package. Find more information about these events on Facebook here.

Daghavende
Every day during the Welcome Week, there will be several people from the Welcome Week Committee on duty 24 hours a day, this is called the “Daghavende”. “Daghavende” is responsible for ensuring that what happens is done correctly and responsibly, whether it is at school or elsewhere where there are events for new students under the auspices of NHHS.
“Daghavende” is dressed easily recognizable with a dark blue t-shirt with “DAGHAVENDE” in large white letters on both back and chest. They will at all times wear the “Daghavende”-phone, which is staffed 24 hours a day. If you have questions or something you want to inform us about, let the “Daghavende” know. “Daghavende” can be reached by phone at 451 86 050. The number is also on all FKU wristlets.
NHH – Kjøp og Salg
The Facebook page “NHH – Kjøp og Salg” (NHH – Buy and Sell) is a closed page for students affiliated with NHH. Here you can buy and sell school books, concert tickets, furniture, find an apartment and lots more. The purchase and sale of alcohol and tobacco is not permitted on this site.
NHH – Glemt og mistet
Have you forgotten something in the hall or after a party? Do not despair – your fellow students may have found your things! Join the Facebook group “NHH – Glemt og mistet” (NHH – Lost and found) and post if you have lost something, or if you find something others have lost.
FKU-point
The FKU-point is NHHS’s own reception during the Welcome Week. Read more about it here.
FAQ
Not at all. There are plenty of activities to choose from, and many might find it a bit overwhelming.
It’s good to know that all the activities happening during the orientation week, organized by the student association (NHHS), are optional to participate in.
Your mentors will inform you about the events taking place and will organize pre-parties and gatherings before them. Many students choose to take a day off or join the open activities for a day or two. Feel free to take advantage of this option if it appeals to you!
On nhhs.no, you will find everything you need to know. We also have other information channels that are useful to use:
- Facebook group: “Students starting at NHH autumn 2023”
- NHHS’s Instagram: nhhstudentforening
You can also ask your buddy, your faddere (mentors), or contact NHHS on Facebook.
During FKU, we will also have a dedicated stand called FKU-punkt, where you can come by and get information. Read more about it here.
For bus schedules and routes, you can search on skyss.no or download the Skyss app.
The bus stop closest to NHH is called “Handelshøyskolen.”
The students at NHH reside throughout Bergen. Many students choose to live in the areas surrounding the school and enjoy it, while others prefer to live in the city center or other locations. You must decide what is essential for you when choosing a place to live, but it’s a good idea to keep in mind where NHH is located on the map.
Hatleberg is the student housing closest to the school and is a popular option for NHH students. Living there also allows you to easily get to know other students.
NHH will send out an email containing your student number, PIN code, and a link to Studentweb in the beginning of August.

There are many subcommittees, interest groups, and sports teams in NHHS, and they all happily accept new members every year. The week after FKU, the Recruitment Week will be organized, where you will have the opportunity to get to know all the groups and receive information about the recruitment process for each of them. More details about this will be provided during FKU and on nhhs.no!
You can find all the groups recruiting in the recruitment portal at http://sok.nhhs.no.
During the Welcome Week (FKU), there will be several members from the Welcome Week committee on duty 24 hours a day, and this is called the “Daghavende” system. The Daghavende is responsible for ensuring that everything runs smoothly and safely, whether it’s on campus or at other locations where events for new students are organized by NHHS.
You can easily recognize the Daghavende as they will be wearing dark blue t-shirts with “DAGHAVENDE” written in large white letters on both the back and the front. They will always have the Daghavende phone with them, which is staffed around the clock. If you have any questions or something you need to report, let the Daghavende know, and you can reach them at the phone number 451 86 050. This number is also printed on all FKU wristbands.

[/fusion_text]NHHS Buddy Program
The NHHS Buddy Program is aimed at informing, assisting, and creating a sense of security for new students who are wondering what to expect at the start of their studies, during the first week, and throughout the semester.
The Buddy Program is managed by the Head of Projects in the Executive Board and operated by volunteering NHH students who can answer any questions you may have as a new student.
During the summer or at the start of the semester, all students will be contacted by their buddy through the Unibuddy app. Your buddy will be available throughout the year to answer any questions you may have, whether they are about the student association, academic subjects, or if you simply want to talk to a more experienced student about life in general. Don’t hesitate to reach out!
If you haven’t been contacted by a buddy or if you have any questions already, feel free to send an email to prosjekt@nhhs.no, and we will assist you!
